We miss fellowship with God and the blessings of His hand because we instinctively know that we are not dressed for the occasion. Our sin and shame make us feel naked and exposed, so we stay away.

Just like the priests had to dress for the occasion to meet with God, so we too must be dressed to meet with God and cover our sin and shame, but our clothing is not a breastplate or an ephod but Christ himself (Gal 3:27).
