Not Today Religion - Zer Surigao

Within each of us there is this tendency to relate to God based on fear and insecurity. We obey God or do good things to feel like we have appeased God and so we can get things from God. The story of the good Samaritan is not a story that is about us trying to be better. We can’t please God with religion. The story of the good Samaritan is the story of the Gospel. The story show how religion leaves us dead, but Jesus came to bring us to life! Jesus uses this parable not to point to religion; he uses it to point to himself and the need to follow him.
